I am pleased to present the ninth part of the my article series on inspiring people in my life. My inspiring colleague Irene Kern is on the ‘hot seat’ today. You can find the past interviews with myself, Susanne, Annika, Kirsten, Karen , Jin, Martina, Laura and Julia linked to the names.
This is all about people who inspire me as a coach and trainer.
The interviews will be, depending on the preference of the interviewee, in English or German.
This interview is with Irene Kern. We met at a common coaching and training center and have kept in contact ever since, exchanging on work, new ideas, different methods ever since. Especially being independent, I find having the opportunity to have these exchanges invaluable. I hope Irene’s interview on what inspires her and what she enjoys in her daily work as a coach and trainer inspire you as much as they did me, and leave the floor to Laura. Enjoy the read!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I always enjoy it when my clients like what we do together.
For me, that includes connecting with each other as equals.
I think it’s great that I can choose when I prefer to work with teams or individuals. In many situations, I can provide input on topics that are currently “topic” in a particular environment. When that’s well-received, I feel really good.
When you’re working on something new, where does your inspiration come from?
I’m especially inspired by the people around me. They’re very interested, and someone is always learning something new.
I get new ideas through good conversations.
On the other hand, I’m also inspired by the peace and quiet and spending time in nature.
If we had asked you 10 years ago, what would your answers to these two questions have been?
10 years ago, I would have answered similarly. I find that particularly interesting. The circumstances were completely different.
Nevertheless, even back then, people were still at the center of what I did.
Although I feel like I’ve changed a lot in that time, key aspects have obviously remained the same.
If you could choose the next question, what would it be? And what would your answer be?
The question would be: What would you like to focus on next?
I want to try to make myself aware every day of living in the moment.
I’ve already managed to do that a few times this summer. It relaxes me immensely not to think about yesterday or tomorrow. I find that very worthwhile doing right now.
Thank you, Irene!
If you have questions on this or coaching, training and facilitation, get in touch! Looking forward to hearing from you.
